I know it has to many days since my last post but things have been moving so fast this new year I am having trouble finding time for myself. When I do it is usually swallowed up by trivial mindless "activities." I have a co-worker, "Pat," that has a tendency to ask for days off then miraculously gets "sick" the following work day making their "vacation" days just that much longer. With that said, I could have won a bet. I tried to get my boss to wager 5:1 that "Pat" would not show on the following Monday. 2 hours late to work "Pat" calls in. Sick of course, I run the route to find that there are problems on the route that needed attention from management. Blah, Blah, Blah.....
I ride with "Pat" today and listen to them tell me incessantly that they are one of the best employees this company has. Even after the boss jump all over them because every time "Pat" takes a Vacation day they have never failed to get sick, People I mean NEVER HAS FAILED TO DO THIS!
I remembered this from somewhere,
"Pride comes before a fall."
As I listened to "Pat" I asked myself how prideful I come across. here are a few scriptures that hopefully keep my own pride in check.
Proverbs 8:13
The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverse mouth I hate.
and this...
Jeremiah 49:16
Your fierceness has deceived you, The pride of your heart, O you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, Who hold the height of the hill! Though you make your nest as high as the eagle, I will bring you down from there,” says the LORD.
Lord help this man to keep his tongue in check and to keep my words behind my teeth.

Awesome thoughts Kay. "Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!" Isaiah 5:21
ReplyDeleteGood words for us all.
Too many people today can't think past themselves. Maybe this issue here is not just pride but selfishness. The pride is masking his innability to think of others and what his actions actually cause. Unfortunately working with people like that seems to be one of the signs of the times.
